What you should already know 

                 *how to sew a straight line 

NEED:      *18  fat quarters OR ¼ yd cuts 

                 * 3½ yards backing 

                 * ¾ yards binding (OR use scraps)

                 * 60 x 60 batting 

                 * Sz 8 or 12 thread for quilting

                 * Embroidery / sashiko needle

                 * machine

                 * basic sewing/cutting supplies 

You will have a 54” square lap quilt upon completion of the classwork!

NOTES

On fabric selection: think of sets of 2 (each block)

• print + coordinating solid

• Dark + light

• Contrasting colors

On batting: for less dense quilting, choose a batting with 8-10” recommended quilting distance   Kelly has SOFT & WHITE. 10” recommended distance. 

On backing: big patterns, small tossed patterns, texture. Steer away from striped and plaids unless you really don’t care whether or not they line up at seam line. 

On binding: choose something that “goes” with your color palette. OR use leftovers from top fabrics for a scrappy binding (there will be enough!)
